I sometimes throw around words/phrases that are specific to what I do as a photographer. Today I want to take a minute to explain what I mean by a stylized shoot. This will be helpful those of you who have applied to be on my SJP Model Squad this year.

And if you are going to be a Senior in 2019 and have not applied to be on the Squad, you still have time! The application deadline is April 7th.

Ok, so what IS a stylized shoot?

Let’s not complicate it: a styled shoot is exactly what it sounds like- a photo session styled by a photographer and other creatives. We work together to put together the look, theme, and the details including: the location, flowers, place settings, outfits, make-up, hair, and you name it! How we want to style it is completely up to us and anyone collaborating in the group! One of the best parts of this is process is I get to work with some of the best creative minds in the Kankakee area and show off  their brand and work!

This styled shoot features a WINTER FRESH theme. I started with a color and theme board to set the tone for the shoot.  The goal was to stay light and airy with the contrast of the beautiful evergreen trees making our models pop! There is nothing I love more than winter white with a dash of blush!

Now… this particular day didn’t go as planned. It POURED all day long so we had to improvise. Not to worry – my gals are the best. We used just about every covered outdoor location we could find and huddled together to stay warm when we weren’t taking pictures.

A huge shot out to our hair and make-up gals over at Rumors Salon and Day Spa. Lucero and Ariana were nothing short of amazing! My mother-in-law, AKA, BFF, Claudie was also there to help with the whole look. She is my side-kick when it comes to the creations! Also, a thank you to Laurie over at Creative Custom Flowers. Not only did she pull through with stunning flower creations but she lent us all kinds of beautiful accessories for the girls to wear.
