Any of my seniors know I’m the posing queen & will guide you through every step of posing during your senior session! Here are three of my favorite easy, go-to poses for your senior photos!
Pop a Squat
Squat down and let your arms rest on your knees or find something such as stairs or a bench to take a seat on! If you choose to squat down, try elongating yourself by popping a leg out! If you have the balance, then this is always a fun one. Working with levels when shooting is a must, so have your client start out standing, and then mix it up and squat down for a little change up! Because most of the body is hidden, we can focus on the beautiful face in this pose!
Hands in your hair
An easy go-to for the ladies! Trust me, hands tend to be awkward and difficult to pose. So instead of feeling awkward or uncomfortable, give your hand something to do! Rest your hands on your head or run your fingers through your hair! You can even get creative with it and throw in a twirl to show off those long locks! I love how a hands in your hair moment creates movement in your senior photos, too!
The lean
Lean up against a nearby wall or surface for a natural looking pose! This one is an easy go-to when your surroundings are right! Whether it be a door you can lean up on, a park bench, or something near by that is a good place to lean or take a little seat, I say go for it! Utilize your surroundings to the best of your ability!
These poses are tried and true poses that I incorporate into almost every senior session! They are some of the basics yet essentials for every SJP senior photoshoot. These poses are my go-to poses. They are poses I use at most senior sessions, and bonus – they ALWAYS look good!
As a senior photographer, it’s important to have a bank of poses in your mind as you’re shooting. These go-to poses are flattering for everyone and can help seniors feel even more comfortable in front of the camera, too! Plus, I love to mix it up throughout the session! That’s right, I LOVE versatility… These poses are a baseline that can be versatile and offer variety throughout different sessions. I just love that!
At the end of the day, it’s important to BE YOU at your senior session! These portraits are so important! I want to capture you as you truly are. Showcase that gorgeous smile, have fun, and let your personality shine at your senior photo session!
